SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (WHNT) - Answered prayers coming in the form of a $10,000 check secretly dropped in a Salvation Army kettle last week in Jackson County.

Tracey Ridgeway is the Salvation Army Director in Scottsboro. She says the check amount is the biggest she has ever seen given during their annual fundraising campaign.

"It is a huge blessing," Ridgeway says.

The anonymous donor's big gift took care of half the fundraising goal for the Scottsboro Salvation Army this year.

The money raised  will go toward gifts for kids and the elderly as part of the Angel Tree program. Money is also used throughout the year in the community.
