HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – It is a day many college football fans consider to be a national holiday.

We’re talking about National Signing Day. It’s the day high school football players formally announce where they plan to play college football.

WHNT News 19 has crews stationed across the Tennessee Valley to cover the big story from the Shoals to Sand Mountain.

Many make verbal commitments throughout their high school careers.  However, nothing is official until coaches get that signed letter of intent.

Coaches for Both the University of Alabama and Auburn University are hoping for the best.

It appears Nick Saban will bring the nation’s top recruiting class to play for the Crimson Tide. Twenty-six players are verbally committed to the Tide at this time, with 20 of those players listed as four-star recruits or better.

Auburn’s recruiting class is currently ranked in the top 10 nationally.

We’ll also be watching how recruiting classes come together at the University of North Alabama and Alabama A & M University.
