The core stage of the big new rocket NASA is designing in Huntsville has passed what the agency calls a "critical" independent review.
That's according to our news partner The Huntsville Times.
The Space Launch System, SLS, will lift astronauts to asteroids and Mars in the next decade. It is being developed at Marshall Space Flight Center.
Marshall says an independent review board gave the green light last week to a full set of system requirements, design concepts, and production approaches for the core stage of the rocket.
The first test flight is scheduled for 2017.
