BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Birmingham Police say a 5-year-old girl reported missing earlier this week has been found.

Officers say Camila Sanabria was found safe in North Carolina on Wednesday with her non-custodial father, Jose Sanabria.

The girl’s mother reported her missing on Tuesday, saying she last saw her daughter after she was dressed for school that morning.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said Camila was located in North Carolina with her father. He told Al.com the mother moved to Birmingham from North Carolina in attempts to get away from child’s father.

The mother is originally from Honduras. Technically, there are no official documents as to who has legal custody of the child. The investigation is ongoing.
