MARSHALL COUNTY, Ala. – Marshall County authorities arrested a 16-year-old male student at Douglas High School Monday, September 16.
Authorities said the student is charged with making a terrorist threat involving the school, which is a class C felony. He is being held by juvenile authorities.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Douglas Police Department investigated the reports of threats being made at Douglas Schools shared on social media on Saturday, September 14.
“We were able to quickly assess the information and make an arrest today based on the hard work of our deputies and investigators. We will hold students accountable for their actions that disrupt school and related school activities,” Sheriff Phil Sims said.
Authorities said during the course of the investigation they did not believe the students or faculty were under immediate threat or danger. As a precaution, a strong law enforcement presence was at Douglas Middle School and Douglas High School on Monday, September 16.
If students chose to not attend school on Monday, they were not counted absent.
