WATERLOO, Ala. (WHNT) – The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an accidental drowning which they believe happened Tuesday night as a result of heavy rain.
Deputies say the man, 52, was found just before 9 a.m. Wednesday by hunters along County Road 105 in Waterloo. He lived in Anderson.
According to deputies, the man’s truck became stuck in a creek crossing, and they believe he tried to make it to safety when the water overpowered him. They say he was found about 25 yards down creek from his vehicle.
The man’s body is being taken to the state forensics lab for an autopsy. His name has not been released yet.
