AVON, Colorado - A man who recently moved from Alabama to Colorado got a welcome from an unexpected visitor this week.  A bear raided his second floor apartment.

Landon Mannick immediately called 911.

"There's a bear, it's a small bear, but it's a bear. Please hurry," he said to the dispatcher.

Firefighters got there about 10 minutes later.  He took shelter in his bedroom, locked the door and barricaded it.

Landon Mannick shows reporter Matt Kroschel where he saw the bear and what he did to stay away from it.

"I could see him right there -- I jumped back, locked the door started moving snowboards back in front of the door -- I wasn't gonna take any chances," Mannick said.

The young bear peeked out of the apartment door after an officer swung it open.  It then ran down the hallway and through an open door.

Mannick wasn't hurt, but a lot of his living room and kitchen were damaged.
