JACKSON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) –  We now know details on the charges against a man accused of stealing a delivery van.

David Wesley Carter is charged with DUI, attempting to elude and receiving stolen property.

Authorities booked Carter into the Madison County Detention Facility just after 12:30 a.m.Thursday.

WHNT News 19 was there when deputies arrested Carter late Wednesday night on Highway 72 in Jackson County south of Woodville.

Carter is accused of stealing an Edible Arrangements delivery van in Huntsville.

The owner of Edible Arrangements says the van’s driver was finishing a delivery around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday on Sparkman Drive in Huntsville.

The van was gone by the time the driver returned.

“Who steals a fruit truck? I mean it’s a fruit truck,” said Michelda Johnson, owner of Edible Arrangements.

Johnson says the van did sustain some damage in the ordeal.

“As far as they can tell now, the brake line has been cut, the window was busted out, and the tires are flat. It’s not operable,” said Johnson.

Jackson County deputies spotted the van around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

They say Carter simply pulled over ending the chase.
