COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Colbert County deputies say a robbery suspect rammed a deputy’s patrol car several times in the area of County Line and Jarmon Lane Monday night.

Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May tells us 36-year-old John Myatt ran from deputies after an armed robbery in Sheffield.  The Sheriff says a deputy shot at Myatt after he rammed a  patrol car with the vehicle he was driving.

The shot fired by the deputy missed, and Myatt drove away.

Sheriff May tells us the man then returned to the scene, where he tried to ram the patrol car again.  He says the deputy fired more shots, but missed the target again.  Deputies did get a spike strip laid out, and they say Myatt wrecked after hitting the strip.

Sheriff May says that’s when they were able to arrest him.

Myatt is charged with robbery.
