MADISON, Ala. – Madison Police said they took dozens of gaming machines from a business Friday.
WHNT News 19’s crew on the scene saw a number of gaming machines being taken from Wild Bill’s Bar and Grill. Those machines were loaded into a large truck parked in the back of the building.
Police said they took 128 machines from inside the business.
William Hines, 52, of Madison, was arrested and charged with promotion of gambling. Police said he was released after posting bond. Several employees at the business were detained, identified and released, they said.
Police said they received complaints about gambling at Wild Bill’s about a month ago and began investigating.
When Madison police and Madison/Morgan County drug agents raided the building Friday morning, they said they found an operation where people could exchange money for a gaming card. The card would allow them internet time credits to use the machines; later they would cash-out as a winner at a payout window, authorities said.
In addition to the machines, police said they also seized cash and gambling records.
