Madison City Schools board approves school rezoning plan

MADISON, Ala. — The Madison City Schools Board of Education unanimously approved a rezoning plan ahead of the new Midtown Elementary School opening next year.

Superintendent Ed Nichols said the plan is necessary for keeping populations at schools evenly distributed. Nichols said the plan keeps neighborhoods intact, but he knows it won’t please everyone.

The vote was the final step in a plan that school officials have been working on since the new year began.
