MADISON, Ala. – After sitting empty for more than two years, Town Madison has announced they have their first tenant for the multi-use development.
Louis Breland, Town Madison’s developer, tells WHNT News 19, they’ve partnered with several other contractors to develop 1,000 luxury apartment units.
The first 280 units will be located within the mixed use retail portion of the property, adjacent to where future dining, shopping and entertainment tenants will locate eventually, according to development spokesman, Joey Ceci.
Future phases of the apartments will follow on other sites within the Town Madison property.
The project will be four stories with elevators and “top end amenities,” according to Ceci.
Construction of the first phase of apartments will begin this fall and take more than a year to build.
Work is already underway for a section of residential houses and town homes in the back corner of the property.
“The residential component is very much like what you would see at Providence. It’s a new style urban development. The same planner that laid that out, has laid this out for us with the narrower streets, heavily landscapes, some common areas in the middle,” says Ceci.
Ceci says their research shows, young family want less of a house and yard, and to be closer to amenities.
Homeowners could start moving in this time next year.
“We’re currently working to put in the streets and the utilities and such and I think you’ll starting to sell lots and look at building houses in there towards the end of this summer,” he says.
Breland officials tell us, keep an eye out for more announcements this week.
They hinted at being close to announcing a new hotel and believe restaurants and entertainment options will be soon to follow.
