MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) - A group of Madison ladies wants to make sure all students are clothed in confidence for the start of the upcoming school year.
"We want kids to have first day of school outfits," Founder Nicole McDuffie said.
Four years ago, a group of friends set a goal. "We wanted to just leave a legacy behind when we all went off to college," McDuffie said. "We knew that there was a need here."
They set out boxes labeled "Clothing for Confidence," knowing it holds more than just dresses and pants.
"Even though it seems small, like clothing, we feel like it can make a big difference in kids starting school," McDuffie said.
The girls are asking the community to help replenish their racks.
"We need more clothes donated," McDuffie said. "Just to spread the word about the shopping day is huge because we always have ample amount of clothes."
The clothing drive continues until July 22nd, a short time before the group's special Shopping Day event.
"We're going to transform the room in there to look really cute," McDuffie said. "Nothing's going to be more than a dollar, and we're not going to ask for any proof or anything, we just want whoever wants to, to come and check it out."
Students are not the only ones with the chance to benefit from the bargains.
"For the parents, just to feel confident that they can provide for their kids," McDuffie said."Sometimes, we know, life is hard."
The Clothing for Confidence Drive continues until July 22. People can drop off clothing donations at the Madison Public Library, Dublin Park, Madison City Hall, Inside-Out Ministries, or the Madison Chamber of Commerce.
The shopping day is July 30 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Inside-Out Ministries. The building is located at 103 Gin Oaks Court in Madison.
