MADISON COUNTY, Ala. -The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide just north of Madison's city limits Friday.

The sheriff's office identified the victims as Jonathan Niel Coffman, 43, and Sunshine Price Pauly, 36. Coffman was a therapist at the Arc of Madison County, according to the authorities. Authorities say they are still unclear about what led to the events.

On Friday morning, deputies responded to a shooting call around 10 a.m. at the 100 block of Rustic Cedar Lane, located off Capshaw Raod, between Jeff Road and Nance Road.

A sheriff's office spokesman said Coffman killed Pauly at a home there and then killed himself.

A 7-year-old was in the home at the time of the shooting and was taken from the home by family members.

In a statement Friday afternoon, the Arc confirmed Coffman was their employee but said he was not providing any services to the victim's family.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the victim's son.
