FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn.(WHNT)-A Lincoln County kidnapping suspect who was captured by authorities earlier this week made his first court appearance Thursday morning.

Scotty Bolin was arraigned via video conference from his jail cell during Thursday's proceeding, which lasted only a few moments. A judge appointed a public defender to represent Bolin, just two days after he was arrested after checking into a hospital in Clarskville, Tennessee.

Investigators said Patrick held a realtor at knifepoint at a home on Patrick Road in Park City last Saturday. Sheriff's Investigator Lee Owen said Bolin intended to take his victim to a nearby ATM, but she was able to jump out of his vehicle and escape.

Just hours before his arrest Bolin called the WHNT News 19 newsroom and admitted to robbing the woman, but denied that he tried to kidnap her.
