LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. -Limestone County Deputies arrested two suspects believed to be in connection with two separate robberies, and say the arrest allegedly prevented a third.

On Thursday, investigators responded to a robbery at Abby’s Mini Mart on Nick Davis Road, where they obtained evidence and developed two suspects as well as their vehicle’s description.

Friday evening a deputy on patrol noticed a vehicle identical to the suspects’ vehicle, a maroon 1998 Honda Accord parked on the north side of the B & S Grocery on Elkton Road. When he approached the vehicle, the driver began to pull out of the parking lot. The deputy stopped the vehicle, with both the driver and passenger and noticed the driver with a t-shirt wrapped around his neck on the floorboard by the driver’s seat. Deputies noticed a pair of gloves and a handgun.

Deputies and investigators arrested 52-year-old Gary Levon Davis and 44-year-old Catherine Champion Screws  in connection with the Thursday robbery of Abby’s Mini Mart, and retrieved information that they are also the alleged suspects from the Monday robbery of J-mart in Athens.

During the investigation the suspects were interviewed and were determined that they allegedly had been preparing to rob the B & S Grocery, also.

Sheriff Mike Blakely stated, “I am extremely proud of my deputies and investigation for an outstanding job of quickly clearing these cases.”

Davis and  Screws were charged with first degree robbery.

Both are now in the Limestone County Jail.

Their bond is set at $20,000.
