Protests in downtown Huntsville last June brought something the city had never seen – protesters dispersed with tear gas and rubber bullets, along with several arrests.

The law enforcement response was controversial and led to a Citizens Advisory Committee report to the Huntsville City Council.

It also led to a lot of thought and soul searching by people like City Council Member Francis Akridge.
