Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office releases new information about deadly shooting in Moulton

MOULTON, Ala. – The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has released new information about a fatal shooting in Moulton.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded at 3:46 p.m. to a report of a fight at a home on the 11000 block of County Road 236 in Moulton.

Deputies say when they arrived they found one man with a gunshot wound.

Sheriff’s investigators say the man who lives in the home shot and killed Benny Lee Patterson, 48, from Moulton.

Sheriff Max Sanders confirms the two men were in a fight that led to the shooting.

Sheriff Sanders says following the fight, Patterson left the other man’s home and later returned, which is when the shooting happened.

The sheriff’s office says no charges have been filed at this time. When the investigation is complete, the sheriff’s office will send the final report to the district attorney’s office for review.
