HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Staffers at a Huntsville law firm are totalling up donations to go to Manna House on behalf of people who live with animals and may need help to care for them.

Lanier Ford Shaver & Payne wrapped up a two-week collection drive to bring in food and supplies for companion animals.

They received about 1,000 pounds of dog and cat food and cat litter, as well as a few dozen toys, dishes, beds and lots of treats.

Manna House hands out food and supplies to people who are struggling, but they also provide for the furry friends of those people too.

The director says when Manna House volunteers distribute the necessities, two lines form — one for human family care and one for animal care.

Stafff at the firm are still totalling up financial donations that will go to provide vaccinations and other medical care that owners may not be able to afford for their pets.

They plan to deliver the goodies next Wednesday, August 27th.

A spokesperson for the firm says they hope the community will continue to donate pet food and supplies to Manna House to help keep pets in homes – with the people who love and need them – and out of the municipal animal shelter.

They also encourage people to seek help from Manna House when they fall on hard times.
