Tanner has a new weather siren... thanks to TVA.

It's a welcome addition to the locals who have rode out storms with little warning for years.

When the storm rolled through Tanner April 27, 2011.. Ann Peoples rode it out with a guardian angel.

“All the trees in the front yard were laying down so he said get in the bathroom, my husband and my son were holding the door closed glass was flying.” Ann recalled.

When the winds stopped, her husband and son opened the door, memories and mementoes were everywhere

“So first he stepped on it, then he picked it up and sat it against I'm sitting in the bathroom like where did black Jesus come from?” Ann said.

The picture wasn't Ann's,  it was her sister-in-laws

“A block away from another street it came thru where our front door ust to be, thru the foyer, turn the corner, stopped right there at the bathroom where we were taking cover.” Ann explained.

Waiting on those who called upon his name

“That's an area that's been hit by tornado several times.” Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks explained.

TVA put up a weather siren

“It's also an evacuation route for TVA out of nuclear plant road out of Tanner.” Said Marks

A weather siren outside the picture of Jesus hanging inside not waiting for him to stand at the door and knock next time

“We didn't know it was actually coming in the Tanner area so anytime there is a tornado siren there's always just a little extra blessing.” Ann said

TVA will be testing the new siren in the coming weeks.
