One man dead after officer-involved shooting in Limestone County


LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. – One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting on Sugar Way on Sunday night, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said George Dison, 57, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Officials said they were called to the scene at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday on a domestic violence report. It was the second domestic call on Sunday that deputies had recieved at the location on Sugar Way. A previous call was made at 11 a.m., according to authorities.

When deputies arrived on the scene at 5:15 p.m., authorities said Dison came out of the woods with a loaded shotgun. Authorities said deputies shot and killed Dison after he pointed the shotgun at deputies.

Deputies had been at the residence multiple times over the past few years related to domestic violence calls, according to the Limestone County Sheriff's Office.

The Limestone County Sheriff's Office said they have asked for assistance from the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
