BOSSIER CITY, La. – Investigators are trying to figure out exactly how a pair of 3-year-old Louisiana twins died.
Autopsies are now being done on the brother and sister, Oliver and Aria Orr, after they were found unresponsive outside their Bossier City house in a pickup truck.
According to police, the childrens’ mother contacted neighbors Saturday to say she was looking for her little ones. A neighbor told CBS affiliate KSLA she helped the twins’ mother look for them.
“She just said that she had fell asleep and now the door was wide open and the babies were gone,” Matthews said.
As CBS News and the Associated Press report, it’s not clear how long the children were missing. One child was found in the front seat of the pickup truck and the other in the back seat.
Investigators “are trying to determine whether the children would have been able to open the door of the truck themselves.”
Law enforcement officials have not said if the truck has been locked. He did confirm that a step-stool was found next to the truck.
There were no signs of trauma on the children.
