HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Three people, including a Huntsville Police officer, were involved in a wreck late Sunday night.

It happened at 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Governors Drive and the access road to South Memorial Parkway.  According to police, the officer was traveling south on the access road when a minivan traveling on Governors Drive collided with the officer's patrol car.

Construction crews were doing bridge work and had huge tarps up, making it nearly impossible to see oncoming traffic.  HEMSI paramedics took the officer to be checked out at Huntsville Hospital, along with the driver and a passenger of the minivan.  Injuries were minor.

The intersection was blocked for more than an hour while police investigated.
