HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Warriors to the Workforce set up at the Von Braun Center to help connect hundreds of service members with a job.
The American Freedom Foundation, or AFF, collaborated with the Space and Missile Defense Symposium to bring in more than 40 companies from across the country. The event works to find veterans, service members transitioning to civilian life and military spouses, a quality job.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statics, in 2014, 45% of veterans were unemployed.
“A lot of them have degrees,” Said AFF Co-founder 12th Sargent Major U.S. Army, Jack Tilly.
“They have master’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees and they have that on ground leadership technique that would help any employer.”
The event is far more than job fair. On site there are resume writing classes, networking opportunities, and training courses to help match veterans to a new career.
“You’re talking about people that really gave you the ability to sleep free at night.” Said Tilly. “And this is just about giving back.”
The event hosted more than 250 veterans and family members. The American Freedom Foundation plans to host another Warriors to the Workforce event in Huntsville this spring.
