HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Walmart opened its first Neighborhood Market in the city today.
Store employees and city leaders cut the ribbon on the new store on Oakwood Avenue, at Jordan Lane.
The event took place at 7:30 a.m. and the store then opened its doors for customers.
Walmart's line of Neighborhood Markets are smaller stores featuring a full grocery section and a pharmacy. The chain was launched in 1998.
Walmart is building other Neighborhood Markets for the Huntsville/Madison County area, including one in Monrovia and another in Gurley. It's believed both locations will open this winter.
