Latest Severe Weather Outlook For Thursday

(WHNT) – The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the increased the higher probability of seeing severe weather to cover more of the Tennessee Valley for Thursday and has increased the odds for areas south and east of the WHNT News 19 viewing area.

This powerful storm system is currently affecting some Mississippi River Valley states to our west with the threat for severe weather today. Multiple tornado watches are in place for Arkansas, Missouri, and southern Illinois.

The threat for severe weather will stay west of the Tennessee Valley until tomorrow morning. The timing of the storm’s arrival is still not set in stone, but the threat will begin increasing for the Shoals area after 7AM, the Huntsville area as early as mid-day, and the Cumberland Plateau, Sand, and Lookout Mountain areas early to mid-afternoon.

Damaging winds and hail are the main threat, but the tornado threat, although not extremely high, is not zero.
