HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Cancer is a deadly, devastating disease, but it doesn't just strike human patients. Each year, an estimated 12 million animals are diagnosed with cancer. That's according to the Morris Animal Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to advance veterinary care in companion animals.

For decades, Morris Animal Foundation has led the charge in pet cancer research. Now, the group has launched its Unite to Fight campaign. The goal is to raise funds to improve treatment options.

In Huntsville, Whitesburg Animal Hospital has joined the fight. The veterinary clinic has organized a Unite to Fight walk at Jones Farm. The walk will be at 6:30pm today. The park is on Four Mile Post Road, just behind the Carmike movie theater and Target shopping center.

There is no registration fee but donations will be accepted. If you can't make it and you'd still like to help, Whitesburg Animal Hospital will be collecting donations through Sunday. The clinic is located at 8407 Whitesburg Drive. The office number is 256-882-0950.

Morris Animal Foundation is also accepting donations online through its Unite to Fight page. Click here to learn more or make a donation.
