HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – When we think library we generally think, ‘shhh.’ But that all goes out the window during the popular Tuesday Evening Concerts @ the Library Series hosted by Huntsville-Madison County Public Library’s Downtown Branch.
It all started more than a decade ago when the library decided to jazz things up a bit.
“We had done some events here with jazz around lunch time and everybody was talking to us about how good it sounded so we decided to give it a try; just kind of pick some groups out from Huntsville’s musical history,” explains Reference Librarian David Lilly, who has organized the summer concert series for 11 years.
With the Tuesday Evening Concerts @ the Library Series you can get everything from Rock ‘n Roll to Big Band to Folk. Best of all? You can enjoy the diverse playlist every other Tuesday night this summer, for free.
“There are some other libraries that have pretty good-sized budgets that bring in talent but we’ve never had any budget and we’ve never had a problem bringing in local groups,” says Lilly.
