HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Hundreds of people gathered Friday evening at Hope Community Church to listen to rap music during a Stop the Violence event.

The free event hosted by the church and community organizers was in reaction to a recent wave of violent crime in Huntsville.

Organizers say the event intent is to cause change and redirection within the city. By teaming up with local rap artists, it hopes to raise awareness that people in the community are not each other’s enemy and are better together.
