HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)-- The crippling winter storm that hit southern Alabama and left thousands of drivers stranded is impacting auto part delivery schedules.

Customers who are waiting for their wrecked vehicles to be repaired are being forced to wait even longer because  distributors in other parts of the state have not been able to ship replacement parts to body repair shops in North Alabama.

Thursday afternoon technicians at Rod's Custom Body Shop said they have not been getting parts since the storm shut down major roads Tuesday.

"We can control most things in this business, but the weather is an entirely different story," parts manager Jacob Roe says.

Roe says customers have been "fairly understanding" but it is a hardship to be without a vehicle for a longer than expected time.

"We are going to work as fast as we can to get those cars fixed once the parts are delivered and hopefully we will be caught back up by next week," Roe added.
