MADISON COUNTY, Ala. – A mobile home is a total loss after an early-morning fire in Madison County. It started around 3:30 a.m.

Volunteer firefighters from Big Cove and Owens Cross Roads responded to the home just off Byrd Drive. When they got there, flames were already shooting from the home. They called in Huntsville Firefighters for assistance.

The homeowner tells WHNT News 19 the smoke detector woke him up, allowing him to get himself and a female out of the home. Unfortunately, the three dogs inside the home weren’t able to get out.

The Madison County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
