HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) -- Sci-Quest announced their move to Madison back in the fall of 2012. Now, that move has hit a few bumps in the road and is delayed.

"We have pushed back the date of our move," said Cyndy Morgan, executive director of Sci-Quest. "We should be relocating something mid-year and right now we're still at our Wynn Drive address with Calhoun Community College."
Morgan says it's a delay that they weren't expecting. She says the location in the Madison shopping center still needs a bit of work and it has just taken a bit longer to get all the construction done that they needed. The move to Madison also kicks off the start of a multimillion dollar capital campaign. That campaign will help develop Sci-Quest into a state-of-the-art science center.

"We're just now starting out so it's not a huge number right now," said Morgan. "We have to raise $8,000,000 to get the relocation done in Phase 1. Phase 1 of the building will be 45,000 square feet and we're at 40,000 now so it's a little larger than what we have here."

Morgan says Sci-Quest's long term goal is $15,000,000 for the capital campaign.

Until the science center makes the move to Madison, she wants customers to know that they are still open for business. When they do finally get into that new location, Morgan says the doors will not be shut for long.

"What we're striving to do is stay open here in operation (in Huntsville)," said Morgan. "Then we will close only for a week to move to the new location so operations will go on consistently as they have been."
