HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – The father and son named in a lawsuit for personal injury caused by motor vehicle negligence have denied all the claims made by the plaintiffs in the case.
Father and son Richard and Gunner Scarano were named in a lawsuit following a fatal wreck in south Huntsville that killed 10-year-old Jaden Coppens. Also injured in the wreck were Amy Creech and Bailey Douglass. A local personal injury attorney filed a lawsuit on their behalf in early June.

“We believe that the young man was negligent on the date in question,” said attorney Jeremiah Michael Hodges. “We also suspect that it was a situation where he shouldn’t have been allowed to be driving that truck.”
In a civil action filed on Wednesday afternoon, the attorney for the Scaranos denied all the claims made by Hodges. In total, 17 different defenses were presented.
Huntsville Police collected blood samples from Scarano shortly after the accident and say test results are pending.
