HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in north Huntsville Saturday.

Huntsville Police said officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 4400-block of Myrtlewood Drive at 12:50 p.m. Officers arriving on scene found a man who had been shot.

After being rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, doctors say he is expected to survive.

HPD said the shooting was an isolated incident that stemmed from a verbal interaction between the two people arrested and the victim.

Tristan Naverrow Caples, 40, and Robert Lee Smith, 38, were arrested and booked into the Madison County Jail in connection with the shooting.

Caples was charged with second-degree assault, discharging a gun into an occupied building, first-degree possession of marijuana, and a noise violation. Smith was charged with reckless endangerment and first-degree possession of marijuana.

Caples was released Sunday morning on a $10,000 bond. As of late Sunday morning, Smith was being held in the jail on a $2,800 bond.
