Police: Man Shot During Home Burglary Arrested at Hospital, Suspected of 2 Crimes

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A man suspected in two separate crimes on Friday was released from Huntsville Hospital today after being shot during one of them.  Joseph Patrick Garrison was arrested upon his release.

Police say Garrison was involved in two incidents on Friday, April 4 – a residential robbery in the 1800 block of Chapman Avenue and a residential burglary in the 2400 block of Dairy Lane.  Police say during the burglary on Dairy Lane, there was a confrontation between the homeowner and Garrison.   The homeowner fired a gun, hitting Garrison in the chest.

Garrison tried to get away, police said, but was quickly caught by Madison County Sheriff’s deputies.  He was taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

Garrison is currently in the Madison County Metro Jail held on a total bond amount of $80,000.
