MADISON, Ala. – A woman was killed in a multi-car wreck on I-565 Tuesday morning.

Huntsville police said Tuesday afternoon that Iesha Shavon Powell, 33, of Huntsville, died in the wreck just before 6 a.m. in the area of County Line Road.

Police said Powell was driving west on 565 when her vehicle left the road and crossed the median, hitting the cable barrier and going into the eastbound lanes. A car and a pickup truck both hit her vehicle, according to police.

HEMSI spokesman Don Webster said two additional people were taken to Huntsville Hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Two lanes were being reopened on westbound I-565 and eastbound was closed.

While crews worked to clear the wreck, eastbound traffic was being diverted onto County Line Road and then back onto I-565 east.

Police are still investigating but said they don’t expect to file any charges.

ALGO reported the wreck was cleared by 9:50 a.m.
