HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Fire and Rescue was called to the corner of Hurst Ave. and Washington St. because of an apartment fire just before 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.

They arrived to find some inside an apartment, but no flames. Firefighters say they did find a mattress that was smoldering, causing smoke in the apartment. But they can't say for certain that's where the fire began.

One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Huntsville firefighters say they aren't sure how many people were in the apartment at the time. They are investigating the cause of the fire.
