HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Monday morning, city officials and the owner of Homegrown LLC announced the first Big Spring Crush, a downtown wine festival.

It will be Saturday, September 27 in Big Spring Park East.

Organizers are planning to have more than 80 wine labels for patrons to sample and enjoy. They are also planning a stage with local entertainment, food trucks, and local restaurants serving wine inspired cuisine.

The announcement followed a half-hour of wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres in Big Spring Park East.

Huntsville City Council President Mark Russell was on hand for the announcement.

He said city leaders love these kind of events for Downtown Huntsville and will do everything they can to make it a success.

He told Homegrown LLC owner Ashley Ryals that city workers would try to make sure the improvements being done around the Big Spring would be done before the festival. Workers have blocked off part of the park to shore up sinkholes in the area.

The Big Spring Crush is the latest idea to lure in people to the downtown Huntsville area.

Tickets for the event range from $40 for regular passes, or $65 for VIP passes.  You can buy them through  Call (256) 683-0966 for more information.
