HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A third grader at Mt. Carmel Elementary and her mother took a bed time tradition and made it into something much more.

Their next bed time story turned into what would be ‘Kylie Meets Cooley.’

“First, mommy started reading the princess story and I said ‘Mommy, I don’t like this, do a different one!,’ said Kylie Laine.

Two weeks of being tucked into bed and making up other stories…

“She told me I could add in stuff and every night we would do the same thing until we finished it,” said Kylie.

‘Kylie Meets Cooley’ was just a thought back in November of 2015, when both Danielle and Kylie decided to put it on paper.

“It’s interesting because I have always wanted to author a book or write a book and it is a huge undertaking, but it’s so amazing to me because I get to do something I’ve always wanted to do with one of my favorite people in the whole world,” said Danielle Hart, mother of Kylie.

The story brings an unusual pair together…Kylie and a cow, Cooley.

“It’s about me moving to a new place and meeting new friends and facing new things,” said Kylie.

“And recognizing the good within your self and the good in others,” said Hart.

It’s the unmatched bond between a mother and daughter that makes this endeavor that more special. As for where it goes, they say they’re just along for the ride.

Kylie and her mother will have a book signing at the Books-A-Million in Huntsville Saturday, October 22nd at 11 a.m.
