HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A digital innovator.  That’s what PBS is saying about a teacher at Monte Sano Elementary School.

Faith Plunkett is an Entertainment Technology Academy instructor.  She’s been named a 2015 PBS Learning Media Digital Innovator.  She is one of only 30 teachers selected from around the country for this honor.

Plunkett teaches students in Kindergarten through fifth grade about computer programming, coding, and the importance of digital citizenship.  She also helps other teachers to use technology in unique way in the classroom.

Monte Sano Principal Melissa Lindsey credits Faith’s passion for technology and her creative high-tech abilities for winning the award, and sees the results in her students.

Faith says that she was surprised when she received the email from PBS, and looks forward to the opportunities it will bring.  She and the 29 other teachers will receive an all-expense paid trip to participate as leaders in the 2015 PBS Learning Media Digital Summit and the International Society for Technology in Education Conference in June.  The teachers will also receive year-long professional development opportunities that include virtual trainings, access to premium and exclusive resources from PBS Learning Media, and a Samsung Galaxy ® tablet.
