Man Attempts Robbery at Starbucks, Settles for a Cup of Coffee

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Huntsville Police say a man walked into a Starbucks in Huntsville Sunday morning demanding money.  However, they say he left with a cup of coffee in stead.

According to the report, Phillip Sawdey walked into the Starbucks on Airport Road around 7:30 Sunday morning.  Police say Sawdey demanded money, but the cashier told him the cash drawer would not open.  Police say the cashier then offered Mr. Sawdey a free coffee instead, which he accepted.

The report says Sawdey then left and police found him in the parking lot.   He was taken to the Madison County Metro Jail on a robbery charge.
