Gunman, victim of Thursday morning shooting in Madison County identified

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has identified the men who died in a Thursday morning shootings on Oldwood Road and Brena Lane. Investigators say Mark Fecteau, 57, shot and killed Charles Hunt, 37.

The initial shooting happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Oldwood Road. Deputies arrived to find Hunt dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined, based on interviews with witnesses, the shooter was Fecteau. Deputies and members of the SWATT team worked to find Fecteau. Information led them from another house on Oldwood Road to Brena Lane in Hazel Green. When SWATT members tried to make contact with Fecteau, they say he shot himself.
