Madison County Masonic lodges award scholarship money to local students

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Saturday marked Madison County Masonic Day, and a number of lodges gathered to share their giving spirit with students heading off to college.

Every year, the Masonic Grand Lodge of Alabama gives away about $75,000 in scholarship money to students across the state.

Saturday morning at the Cahaba Shrine Temple, 15 young people from across north Alabama were each given $1,000 scholarships.  The money will help make sure they get to go to college and continue their education.

Several Tennessee Valley Masonic lodges contribute every year to help give scholarship money to deserving students.

In addition to the scholarships, the Masonic Lodge in Gurley also donated $275 to Madison County High School to purchase sports equipment.
