HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - A Madison County grand jury indicted a Huntsville woman in connection with a deadly hit-and-run wreck.

Latonya Haley, 33, is charged with manslaughter, first-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident with an injury in connection to a September 2014 crash that killed eight-year-old Weixi Zhang and critically injured his two sisters.

Huntsville Police say the three children were walking home along U.S. Highway 72 with two adult relatives from their family's restaurant that night when an SUV jumped the curb and hit the children before leaving the scene. Investigators traced the vehicle to Haley and she was arrested the next day. She was released two days later on a $60,000 bond.

Officials arrested Haley again one month after the fatal hit-and-run and charged her with DUI, speeding and driving with a suspended license. A judge then revoked her bond.

Haley remains in the Madison County Jail. A trial date has not yet been set.

The family of Zhang also filed a civil lawsuit against Haley. The suit names seven other defendants.
