Madison County Farmers Market Reopens

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Growing season has arrived, bringing fresh, homegrown vegetables to the Madison County Farmers Market located on Cook Ave.

The fresh vegetables grown by local farmers can be bought every Wed through Sun in June through Aug and are available at reasonable prices.IMG-20120818-00062

Patrons can find squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, onions, green beans plus fresh fruit, flowers and baked goods, among other things, at the farmers market.

The farmers market will be open on Wed-Fri from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sun from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the Madison County Commission, the Madison County Farmers Market is the oldest in the state of Alabama, first beginning operation in 1814 in the basement of the Madison County Courthouse.
