MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – The Madison city council passed an ordinance that will allow drivers to make U-turns more allowable.

The previous code prohibited all U-turns unless a sign was posted at the crossover indicating it was allowed.  Prior to this new ordinance all U-turns in the city of Madison were actually illegal.

The new ordinance will only allow the city to erect no U-turn signs on city streets. It can not post signs on U.S. 72, which already follows the state rule allowing U-turns unless noted otherwise.
