HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting at the Westlake apartment complex off of Sparkman Drive.
23-year-old Devonte Lashun Bone was killed.
Authorities have charged 22-year-old Demetrius Deshawn Childs with Capital Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle and second-degree assault.
Investigators determined the shooting was a result of an ongoing dispute between Childs and Bone for several weeks. Childs allegedly saw the victim at the complex and began shooting into the vehicle, killing Bone and injuring a passenger.
Officers were called to the apartment complex Thursday night. Paramedics rushed Bone to the hospital in critical condition; he later died.
Police confirm a second victim had a minor injury and was treated and released.
Police say that Childs turned himself in at 8 p.m. on Friday.
