HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Police in Huntsville have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with a beating death investigation.
Late Tuesday night, police arrested 18-year-old Berhe Xavier Starling and charged him with manslaughter in the death of 40-year-old Mark Scott Pridmore.
Police say the incident happened September 4 at 4302 University Drive. Officers say Starling and Pridmore were involved in a physical altercation at that location sometime during the day on Thursday, September 4. The incident was not reported to police. During the altercation, Pridmore received an injury that later made him seek medical treatment at Huntsville Hospital. Pridmore died of the injury two days later, September 6.
Investigators from the Huntsville Police Major Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigations and Gang Unit immediately started a search to identify possible offenders in this case. They developed Berhe Starling as a suspect. Police located Starling in the area of Myrtlewood Drive and arrested him. He was booked into the Madison County Jail on September 9th, shortly before midnight.
Police tell us the victim died due to head injuries.
