Huntsville, Ala. – A Facebook video paying tribute to J.O. Johnson High School has been viewed more than 30,000 times.
The video was shot and posted by Johnson alumnus Lance Piri.
It’s a stirring memorial to the former school, showing many of the former trophies and accolades achieved over the school’s 44-year history. Piri takes viewers around the school grounds; through the hallways, classrooms and facilities.
In his post, Piri says “You can tear down our school, change the name, but you can never take it from our hearts.”
It was announced several years ago that Johnson High School would be closing. Other Huntsville City Schools that have closed over the last couple of years include Butler, Davis Hills and Ed White.
