Huntsville Utilities restores power to 28,000 customers after Monday morning outage

UPDATE: Huntsville Utilities restored power to all customers by 9 a.m.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A power outage hit the northern part of the Huntsville Utilities service area early Monday morning.

HU said lightning struck a substation in the northern part of the service area.

They stated crews were working to restore power as quickly as possible.

In an updated tweet around 7:45 a.m., HU stated power was back to a large portion of Northwest Madison County. The utility stated around 28,000 customers lost power due to equipment failure at a substation in Northwest Madison County.
